The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost two straight since shutting out the Dallas Stars over the weekend. Tonight marks the final chapter of a four-game road trip as they face the Anaheim Ducks. Here are the three keys to a CBJ victory in Anaheim this evening.
The Anaheim Ducks are undefeated (2-0-0) at home; coming off a 6-1 victory over the Nashville Predators in front of their home crowd at the Honda Center on Wednesday evening. It’s important for the Blue Jackets to not let this game get out of hand early. Scoring early in the game would settle down the home crowd and take some pressure off the Jackets defense.
One Shift at a Time
The Columbus Blue Jackets not only lost to the Sharks last night, but did so without scoring a power-play goal and gave up two power-play goals as well. Special teams has been the forte of this Jackets squad early on, and they can’t let one bad performance on the road shatter their confidence. The team’s gonna have to dig deep tonight and forget about the disappointing performance from last night. The CBJ should put extra emphasis on having a one-shift-at-a-time mentality in Anaheim against the Ducks.
An Offensive Spark
Columbus has only scored a combined three goals in regulation the past two games. It’s likely gonna take at least 3 goals in regulation to hand the Ducks their first home loss of the 2016-17 NHL Regular Season. Either somebody’s gotta step up for Jackets or the offense needs to play lights out for the CBJ to have a chance to come out of Anaheim with a W.
