The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders will meet for the final time this season. The Jackets have been victorious in two of the three meetings, however the Islanders’ lone victory was the only game between the two squads that was played in their home building.
Joonas Korpisalo is expected to start in net for Columbus. He allowed zero goals in a 7-0 victory at Nationwide Arena the previous time these two clubs faced one another.
The Islanders have only been 1-3-0 in their last four games, but they’ll be a team who’s scratching and clawing for their playoff lives with a home crowd behind them.
The Blue Jackets, on the other hand are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games and have continued to find ways to win games as “the hunted” team who’s been ahead in the standings and favored for the most part.
As always, watch for Islanders center John Tavares. He’s a major threat to have a big-time performance in any game.
Also watch for CBJ Captain Nick Foligno. Foligno has scored a combined three goals the last two times these teams met.
The Jackets will have an early start time on Saturday afternoon and look to remain unscathed on the week before a matchup with the New Jersey Devils 24 hours later.
