Jackets And Wild Meet At Nationwide In Contest Tonight Between Two Evenly Matched Teams

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild meet tonight in a matchup between two teams with identical 14-8-2 records.  Puck drop is scheduled for shortly after 7:00 PM ET.

Despite both teams having 30 points, these two clubs enter tonight’s game in different spots in their respective divisions.  With a win, the CBJ would regain first place in the Metropolitan Division.  The Wild, on the other hand, would move into a tie for second place in the Central Division with a win tonight and would still be three points behind the division leading Nashville Predators.

The Blue Jackets are coming off a 7-5 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night.  Although they’ve gone 2-2-0 in their last four contests, the Jackets have allowed four goals or more in three of those four games.

The Wild enter tonight’s game coming off a 4-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes.  Like the CBJ, they’ve had mixed results recently, going 2-2-0 in their last four games.

The leading scorer for Minnesota is center Zach Parise and his 11 goals this season.  Parise comes into this evening’s contest hot, scoring five goals in his last seven games.  Keeping pace with Parise is Matt Dumba, who has matched Parise’s five scores in seven games and is just one behind his season total with 10 goals of his own, which leads all NHL defensemen in that category.

On the CBJ side of the ice, Cam Atkinson comes in as the top scorer on the team, lighting the lamp 15 times so far this year.  Despite the rest of the team totaling seven goals on Monday night, Atkinson was held scoreless, snapping his seven game goal scoring streak.

Right behind Atkinson on the team as far as goals are concerned is Pierre-Luc Dubois.  Dubois scored twice on Monday night and now has eight goals in November.  With 12 markers this year, PLD is on pace to double his season total of 20 from his rookie campaign.

These two teams have many similarities as they prepare to face off tonight at Nationwide Arena.  After alternating wins and losses the last week or so, the Jackets will look to string together a couple wins in a row to get things moving in the right direction tonight.
