The Columbus Blue Jackets (18-12-3) will host the New Jersey Devils (11-14-7) in the last matchup of a six-game home stand.
After a cold start to the month of December, the Jackets seem to be finding their groove once again, going 2-0-1 in their last three games–not allowing more than one goal in regulation in any of those contests.
The Devils enter Nationwide Arena last place in the Metropolitan Division and hold a record of 2-4-4 in their last ten games.
Columbus will be heavily favored, but there is a lingering question that was brought to light after Monday’s 1-0 victory over the Ducks.
Where has the goal scoring been from Alexander Weinberg?
Two seasons ago, Wennberg had a breakout season as a center, scoring 13 goals and racking up 46 assists. This season, Wennberg has 15 assists, but only a single goal.
Tortorella openly admitted he’s considered putty Wenny on a line with Oliver Bjorkstrand and Artemi Panarin, but only if his play is good enough to deserve the opportunity. While the Jackets seem to be in a good place over the past few games, the role and performance of Wennberg seem to be a massive question marks.
The CBJ will look to stay undefeated for the week as they host the Devils before two matinee road games on the docket for this weekend. A win could set the Jackets up for quite a successful week in the standings.
