Thursday night’s 4-3 victory was filled with plenty of emotions, as the Columbus Blue Jackets welcomed back Captain Nick Foligno while Sergei Bobrovsky was a healthy scratch due to his actions following a 4-0 loss to Tampa Bay.
While the Jackets handled their emotions well for a night, it’s time for them to refocus now that Sergei Bobrovsky is back with the club.
It’s also worth noting Center Brandon Dubinsky suffered an injury while in action on Thursday, allowing 22-year old Kevin Stenlund to take his place for the time being. Stenlund’s numbers haven’t been off the charts, but his performance in camp has allowed for some lingering hopes that he could make an immediate impact with the bunch.
Things won’t get easier for Columbus tonight, who will face the division-leading Washington Capitals. The Caps are winners of three straight and are led by Alex Ovechkin, who’s already registered 32 goals this season.
CBJ fans are all waiting to find out who’s going to get the start in net tonight. Whether it’s Bobrovsky or Korpisalo, a win would be huge for the Jackets to keep them in the thick of things as far as the division, while a loss could have them looking over their shoulder to see how their playoff hopes are looking.
It’s only the month of January, but there’s always a little extra on the line when two divisional foes go at it. Should be a good one!
